ROSA S. “ROSITA” CANTU

AUGUST 30, 1920 – DECEMBER 28, 2020

Mrs. Rosa S. “Rosita” Cantu, 100, entered into the heavenly garden on December 28, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas and is now at peace, reunited with all her loved ones in paradise.  Her long, well lived and enjoyable life saw her through many presidents, popes, events, both major and minor in her life and in the world.  Granny, as she was more affectionately known to those who loved her, enjoyed being that sparkle in her granddaughter Sylvia’s eyes, the world to her daughter and a fashionista.  There was no repeat clothing in her wardrobe.  Ever the beautiful and charming woman of great poise and character, she always enjoyed her outings to local restaurants, her favorite being Danny’s on McPherson, where she could listen and enjoy the live music during the weekends.  This 2020 was a big change for all, including her, as her outings were limited, but that did not stop her from celebrating that milestone of turning 100 blessed and loving years.  Her “birthday parade” was full of friends and relatives, as she sat on her porch in a chair that was fit for a Queen.  Frequently, she would travel to San Antonio to spend time with her daughter, San Juanita and her son-in-law Pedro.  There, she made many friends that would always remember her on her birthday.  Granny taught us that while life might be tough, it is through perseverance and faith that one gets through its rough patches.  The many memories that have been accumulated by all whose presence this gentle and loving soul garnered, will be the most prized possessions that we can have and take with us as we live and continue on with our earthly journey. #granny #centenarian #fashionista

She was preceded in death by her parents Marcelino and Feliciana Sepulveda; husband, Rosendo S. Cantu, daughter Rosa Hilda Cantu and brothers Federico Sepulveda and Manuel Sepulveda.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter: San Juanita (Pedro) Ramirez; granddaughter: Sylvia Juanita Cantu; sister: Teodora “Dora” Cortez, her beloved caretaker, Blanquita Espitia, as well as a great number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation to her loving goddaughter, Tita Treviño, for always loving her, thinking about her and remembering her each holiday, a time she would always look forward to receiving her beautiful expressions of prayers and floral arrangements.
