Raul Charó, Jr. was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the age of 73.

Raul was a retired Computer Specialist, United States Veteran, Karate Black Belt, Bowling League and Billiards Tournament Champion, Chess enthusiast and life-long resident of Laredo, Texas.

Raúl was born in Laredo, Texas on April 17, 1948.  He attended Martin High School and graduated from Texas A & I University in Kingsville with a degree in Business Administration and worked at the Laredo Independent School District as a computer specialist until the time of his retirement.

At the age of 18, Raul joined the United States Navy in 1966 and proudly served his country in overseas duty during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, Raul returned to civilian life in Laredo, Texas.

Raul was a loving son, a faithful and caring brother and a humble and simple man.  His family is blessed with fond memories of his life. He will forever live in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raul and Elvira Charó, and sister, Esther Charó.

Raul is survived by his sisters, Olga Garcia (Juan), Imelda Martinez (Robert Casarez), Sara Kazen (Michael), Patricia Charó, Melissa Charó and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

A celebration of life and memorial for Raul will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  The Homily will be held at 10:30 a.m. The cortège will depart the funeral home at 11:45 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will be held at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 12:05 p.m. with Msgr. James Harris as celebrant.  Military honors will also be provided by the U.S. Navy and the Local Post 59.

Serving as pallbearers are:  Michael Kazen, Robert Casarez, Richard Martinez, Joe H. Valdez, Jr., Juan Román García, and Javier H. Martínez, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are: Michael A. Kazen and Noah J. Aguirre.
