JANUARY 5, 1935 – APRIL 22, 2020

Mr. Oscar Garcia, 85, entered into the presence of the most high on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 in the presence of his family.  Born in Laredo, Texas on January 5th, 1935, the son of Jesus Garcia and Juanita Davila. Oscar transferred from Martin High School to Christian Union Institute and graduated in 1951. After graduation, he met and married the love of his life, Ruth Donovan in 1953. The young couple transferred to California where he began his career working in the aerospace industry. Shortly thereafter, they relocated back to Laredo, TX, where he began his entrepreneurship and opened his first business, Friendly Auto Supply. Those who knew him referred to him as "Mr. Friendly." Known for his genuine smile and approachable personality. He went on to open his second business, Grande Distributing and purchased Hamilton Hotel and Storage. After many years of successful business, he decided to retire in 2003. Oscar was a loving man, selfless beyond measure and always put his family first.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Jesus Garcia and Juanita Davila; brother:  Homero Garcia and Oliverio Garcia.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved spouse of 67 years of marriage:  Ruth Donovan Garcia; children:  Olga R. Paez, Mary Martha Aldrige (Billy Bob), Mary Mirtha Bruni (Frederick Knight), Oscar Garcia Jr. (Leslie Ann), Arturo Ezequiel Garcia, Andres Garcia (Adriana); grandchildren:  Robbie Paez, Amanda McCaleb (Chad), David Edward Waller (Alexis), Charles Andrew Waller (Dianna), Frederick Martin Bruni (Sylvia), Allison Ann Bruni, Melissa Garcia, Sarah Diaz (Josiah), Katie Garcia (Ben Lopez), Oscar Garcia III, Nicole Garcia, Bryan Garcia, Arutro Garcia Perez (Christy), Jessie Garcia Perez (Melissa), Andres Garcia Jr. (Alyssa Martinez), Carlos A. Garcia (Kiara Barragan), George A. Gonzalez Jr, Lauren Farhoudi (Nader), Ashley Gibson (Scott), Robert Aldrige; great-grandchildren:  24; great-great grandchild: 1; siblings:  Alberto Garcia (Consuelo), Rey Ayala (Guadalupe); sister-in-law: Rosie Garcia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held in accordance with the current City of Laredo ordinances with the 10 people maximum in the chapel as well as the practicing of safe social distancing.

The Garcia family will receive condolences on Saturday, April 25, 2020 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd., Laredo, TX 78041.

Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Laredo City Cemetery officiated by Rev. Dorso Maciel from Primera Iglesia Bautista.

Pallbearers will be:  Oscar Garcia Jr., Arturo E. Garcia, Andres Garcia, David E. Waller, Billy Bob Aldrige, Robbie Paez, Charles A. Waller, Arturo Garcia Perez, Jessie Garcia Perez, and Andres Garcia Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Oscar Garcia III, Frederick M. Bruni, David Waller Jr, Carlos Garcia, and Charles L. Waller.
