Michael Garza, Jr.

June 26, 1998 — March 9, 2020

Michael “Mikey” Garza, Jr., 21, entered into rest on Monday, March 9, 2020 in Laredo, Texas. Mikey is a humble, funny, and most lovable person one could have met; always smiling and laughing and full of life; an individual that knew nor had enemies nor knew malice. He always gave everyone advice and comforted the broken, even if he was down or having a bad day, he would cast that aside to put everyone else before him.

Mikey is 21 years young and graduated from United High School; an accomplished athlete who loved football and whom especially loved the Dallas Cowboys.

Currently, he was the bar manager at Whispers Bar and Lounge, while awaiting the final process in his hiring with a United States Agency, a journey that he was looking forward too.  I know he would have served as best he could.

Unfortunately, his life was cut short and our world was crushed.  Michael, you left too soon. Your life was about to blossom more than ever; you had a whole life ahead of you son and had big plans, but you’re safe now and pain free. I know you’ll look over us all and protect us from above.  With the heaviest of weight on our heart, Rest In Peace Superman.

He had a passion for “Superman” memorabilia. His dream of becoming Superman has now come true as he flies over us, watching and protecting us.

Mikey would not have us sad over his early and unequivocal tremendous loss, but would rather have us celebrate who he was and who he will continue to be in our hearts, minds and lives.

It is therefore fitting to ask those in attendance to wear their Superman shirts or colors to his funeral service.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents:  Santos Garza, Captain Jose R. Martinez, Rosa M. Martinez; great-grandpa: Teodolo Cardenas; great-great grandpa: Melquiades Mata; great-great grandma: Consuelo Mata; uncles:  Samuel Garza and Gerardo Garza.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his father: Michael (Yvonne R.) Garza and mother:  Maria Octavia (Rick) Cook-Alt; siblings:  Krystal Garza, Aurelio (Kimberly) Vazquez, Roshelle Garza, Briana Garza, Annelise Garza, Chantel Siobhan Benavides, Cloie Chanel Benavides, Ayden Michael Garza, Joshua Garza, Caitlin Lombraña, Rick Cook-Alt Jr.; grandparents: Alfonso Garza and San Juana Warner; nephews and nieces:  Harmony Faith Garza, Aurelio King Vazquez, and Santiago Lombraña, as well as by numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and many beloved friends.

For those wishing to make a donation to help defray the costs of his funeral expenses, you may do so in person at the funeral home or by calling 956.722.8850 and making a donation.  From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to those that have helped or will help.  God bless you.
