Heriberto “Sal” Saldivar, 73, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Friday June 3rd, 2021.
Born in Laredo, TX, Heriberto Saldivar, or Sal as he was known by his friends and family, was a loving father, grandfather, and brother. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War by enlisting in the Army and earned the rank of Sergeant. He became part of the distinguished 101st Airborne Division and earned the Bronze Star for his acts of valor, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. A born-again Christian, he looked to bible and prayer for daily inspiration and visited with troubled juveniles to counsel and advise.
He was preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe Saldivar and Rosa Lydia Saldivar and brothers Guadalupe (Lupito), Jaime, David, and Juan Saldivar.
Left to cherish his memory are his three sons and their families: Heriberto Saldivar Jr. (Gloria, Julian David, Alejandra, & Heriberto III), Richard Saldivar (Irma, Ricardo, & Julianna), and Dennis Saldivar (Brayden). He is also survived by his siblings Estefana (Fanny) Hernandez, Rogelio (Roy) Saldivar, Noe Saldivar, Jorge (Choche) Saldivar, Ruben Saldivar, Lydia (Lily) Hernandez, Linda Saldivar, Roxanna (Roxy) Valdez, and Melissa (Missy) Saldivar plus many nephews, nieces, family members, and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.
Graveside Service with Military honors will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 2:15 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. All attending are asked to join at the cemetery at 2 p.m.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to his Ex-wife and the mother of his three sons, Yolanda P. Thornton.
