GLORIA R. WOODS
MAY 10, 1921 – MARCH 19, 2020
Gloria Raymond Woods passed away at home on March 19, 2020, at the age of 98. She was born in Laredo, Texas to Manuel Juan Raymond and Santos Zapata Raymond on May 10, 1921. She earned her B.A. degree in Education at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Woods taught English in the Laredo Independent School District for over 40 years, and was active in the Pan American Student Forum and the International Good Neighbor Council.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Victor Clark Woods, and her sisters, Teresa R Flores (Emeterio), Connie R Kazen (Abraham “Chick” Kazen), Mary R Sanchez (John).
She is survived by her two sons, Victor Clark Woods Jr. (Diana Zuniga) and Raymond Michael Woods (Manuelita Sanchez), Grandchildren Michael Woods (Dominique), Victoria Martinez (Christopher), Kevin Woods (Deborah), Kathleen Megan Kurtz (Scott), and 8 great grandchildren . She is also survived by her brothers Manuel (Angelina) and Rolando (Amadita) Raymond, and her sisters Isabela Martinez (Isauro) and Zita Coffey (Bill), and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mrs. Woods was an avid fisherwoman and hunter, having killed her last white tailed buck at the age of 92. She loved the San Antonio Spurs and was a constant and loyal fan of her children and grandchildren’s sporting endeavors.
A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in her memory to the charity of your choice.
