ELIDA A. GARCIA AVITU
DECEMBER 31, 1943 – FEBRUARY 21, 2020
Mrs. Elida A. Garcia, 76, entered into the presence of the Almighty in His Heavenly Kingdom on Friday, February 21, 2020 at a local hospital. She leaves behind a great legacy that will be cherished by her entire family who miss her and will keep her memory alive for generations to come.
Preceded in death by her husband: Guillermo Santos Garcia; siblings: Humberto “La Granja” Avitu, Yolanda Jimenez, Esperanza Cirlos.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children: Olga L. Martinez, Yolanda E. Martinez, Guillermo Martinez, Rene (Maria Luisa) Garcia, Roberto Garcia, Blanca I. (Sergio de Leon) Garcia, Ricardo J. (Aileen) Garcia, Cindy (Misael) Bravo; daughter-in-law: Dalilah Garcia; partner in life: Lamberto Gonzalez; 35 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren; sisters: Diana Melendez and Nora Ortegon, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The family will receive condolences on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez, where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral procession will depart at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 to St. Joseph Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
