Celia U. Ramirez, 88, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Friday, August 7, 2020.

Celia was born daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Amador Uribe in San Ygnacio, Texas on February 10, 1932. Mr. & Mrs. Uribe then moved their family to Laredo, Tx in the early 40’s so that their children could have a better education. Celia graduated from Martin High School in 1949; her friends knew her as “Chela,” the girl who was very fond of love stories. “Chela” then married the love of her life, Francisco R. Ramirez Jr., on September 18, 1955. They were married for 51 years, during which they had 4 beautiful children. “My children mean everything to me” as Celia would frequently say. She worked with the State of Texas Department of Human Services for over 30 years. During her tenure, she was awarded numerous awards dedicated to her hard work and service. Celia was a very vibrant person who loved to be around people. She was a joyous, loving, caring, and overall beautiful person. She will be deeply missed by her children, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francisco R. Ramirez Jr.; son Alberto A. Ramirez; brothers: Romeo A. Uribe, Adolfo A. Uribe, Abel A. Uribe; and sisters: Lilia R. Scott, Hilda L. Martinez, and Aminda O. Villarreal.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Frank R. (Mary) Ramirez III, Celia M. (Alfred) Jimenez, Marissa T. Ramirez; grandchildren: Frank (Shelly) Ramirez IV, Chris (Erica) Birch, Eric Albert Jimenez, Sarah Michelle Jimenez, Jorge A. Gutierrez; great-grandchildren: Madison Medellin, Leo Lucio, Matthew Birch, Ethan Birch, Benjamin Birch; and sister Raquel U. Zapata, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Tuesday evening, August 11, 2020 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning, August 12, 2020 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Frank R. Ramirez III, Frank R. Ramirez IV, Jorge A. Gutierrez, David R. Zapata, Charles B. Dickinson III, Alfred P. Jimenez, and Carlos E. Flores.
