Alma Ramos

February 18, 1973 — September 12, 2020

Alma graduated from Martin High School in 1991 and from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1997.  She began her career at Dr. Joaquin G. Cigarroa Middle School where she was an educator for fourteen years.  In 2007, she obtained a Masters in Educational Administration from Texas A&M International University and then dedicated the last twelve years to her role as an administrator at J. W. Nixon High School. Throughout her career, Alma never forgot her humble beginnings, which helped shape her professional career and the students she spent her career serving.

Each of us are all more than a mere recitation of accomplishments or the sum of the words of the tributes that may one day be written on our behalf.  Alma certainly was.

To countless students she was a guiding force and discipline that helped shape their lives.  To numerous colleagues, she was a role model, a supporter and a mentor.  To those of us who knew her personally and counted her as a friend, she was the funniest, warmest, most genuine, and unforgettable companion we will ever encounter.

Although we were all witnesses to the light that she shared with so many lives, Alma would want to be honored in her passing by our appreciating the very people that she loved and cherished so remarkably in life - her family.

Alma loved her parents and was the proud firstborn daughter of Jesus and Josefina Garza.

She was the protective and fun-loving big sister to Sandra, Jesus, and Ricardo Garza- for whom she would do anything and with whom she shared the very best parts of herself.

She was the loyal and perfect complement to her best friend and husband, Armando Ramos Jr.  Alma and Mando were undoubtedly made for each other and they were only ever intended to grow old together.

She was the proud and loving mother to Amanda and Alyssa - her daughters whom she adored more than anything or anyone.  Each of whom so unmistakably carries a part of Alma’s spark in them.  Alma would want us all not to spare an opportunity to remind both Amanda and Alyssa how much they each meant to her.  Alma was a truly special mother who found her purpose and fulfillment in raising Amanda and Alyssa.

Alma Garza Ramos was born on a Sunday on February 18, 1973, and on Saturday, September 12, 2020, she drew her last breath.  For seventeen thousand three hundred seventy-four days, Alma graced us with her intelligence, her beauty, her honesty and her fun-loving, fiercely protective, and loyal heart.  Blessed are the days that Alma shared with us and blessed are we all for having known her.

Although Alma is already deeply missed, we know that she has been received in the embrace of her Heavenly Father where she will remain in peace and love everlasting.

Alma is survived by nephew & nieces Jason, Sophia & Scarlett Garza; grandmothers Jacinta Orozco de Gracia, María Olga Garza; aunts & uncles Antonio (Guadalupe) Garcia, Guillermina (Víctor) Garcia Infante, Felipe (Linda) Orozco; Ana (Javier) Márquez, Sara López, Yolanda (Genaro) Gómez, Mary Hernández, Horacio (Eva) Garza, Jaime Garza and numerous cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Antonio Garcia & Horacio Garza her aunts, Margarita Garcia, Elia Cardenas, and Patricia Miranda.

Pallbearers will be: Jesus Garza, Jr, Ricardo Garza, J.J. Solis, Armando Molina, Mundo de la Fuente, Robert Garcia, Marco Infante, Dr. Jerry Cruz, Ángel Ramos
