America Yolanda Davila de Martinez was born on December 6, 1933, and passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at the age of 92. Born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Yolanda grew up in Monterrey, Nuevo León, where she met the love of her life, Jose Gabriel Martinez. They were married on December 17, 1956, and shared a fairy-tale love story that endured until the passing of her beloved husband in 1984. They raised 8 wonderful children. Together, they ventured into various businesses, with Yolanda always standing by his side, supporting his dreams and helping build a life filled with love, hard work, and success. After his passing, she continued her entrepreneurial spirit and remained active in business until her retirement.
Yolanda's love for her children was unmatched. She often jokingly said that no one better touch her kids, or they would have to deal with her. Fiercely protective and endlessly devoted, her family always knew they were loved beyond measure. She was a gifted hostess and an avid party planner who cherished bringing her family together. Her annual New Year's celebrations became treasured family traditions filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Yolanda also loved traveling, especially her cherished trips to Las Vegas and Wendover, Nevada. She enjoyed playing the slot machines and was fortunate enough to have many lucky moments throughout the years.
Known as the family's Queen, Yolanda lived a beautiful and joyful life. Her greatest happiness came from caring for and entertaining her children and grandchildren. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she lovingly prepared family favorites, including her famous tamales, menudo, and homemade flour tortillas—comfort foods that will forever be remembered and missed. Yolanda's warmth, strength, generosity, and unwavering love created a legacy that will live on through all who knew her. Family members describe her simply as a Legend, and that is exactly how she will be remembered. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories, family traditions, and an enduring example of love, resilience, and devotion. Though deeply missed, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jose Gabriel Martinez; her parents, Juan Angel and Carmen Davila; grandsons, Nathian M. Gomez & Hector Martinez, Jr.; Great-grandbaby, Isabella J. Sciaraffa & her brother, Vicente Davila.
