Mr. Tomas Ricardo Rodriguez, 84, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 06, 2020 at a local hospital. He was born on April 05, 1935 in Bruni, Texas to Eusebio Rodriguez and Dora Guerra de Rodriguez. He was raised in Laredo, Texas for most of his life and became a lifelong resident of Laredo in his adult years. Mr. Rodriguez served both his country and community with courage and dedication. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1955 where he proudly served for the next four years. After the Navy, he continued serving in the U.S. Reserve for many years. In Laredo he worked in the Uniroyal Company for over ten years and later pursued a career in Education at Laredo State University. He began his career as an Elementary School Teacher in 1978 and worked at Alma Pierce Elementary until his retirement on December 31, 2002. After retirement he continued his passion for teaching by working at Laredo Community College as an ESL Instructor for an Adult Education Program. He also taught ESL in Nuevo Laredo.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Eusebio and Dora Guerra; his only son, Tomas “Tommy” Ricardo Rodriguez, Jr.; and his sisters, Rosario Ruvalcaba and Omega Diaz.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Isaura Rodriguez; brother, Carlos (Esther) Rodriguez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday evening, February 13, 2020 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday morning, February 14, 2020 at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels where a Chapel Service will be held at 10 a.m. led by Father Hector Flores. Military Honors will be presented after the Chapel Service by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard & the American Legion Post 59.
Cremation Services will be held at a later date.
