Selinda Cardenas Velazquez

With deeply saddened hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Selinda, who passed on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family by her side.

Selinda was a proud graduate of United High School, where she was a member of the Larriettes. She attended LJC and UTSA. Selinda, together with her mom, owned and operated Selsy’s Nail & Hair Care Salon for over 12 years. She was a catechist for San Martin De Porres Catholic Church and was an active member of the Women’s Acts Retreat.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Manuel S. and Juvencia G. Lerma, and Simon and Gregoria Cardenas; her uncles, Servando Lerma and Miguel Cardenas; and her aunt, Bertha Flores.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Christian Velazquez and Clariz Velazquez; the father of her children, David Velazquez; her grandson, Luis Gonzalez III; her parents, Andres and Sylvia Cardenas; her brothers, Andres (Lucinda) Cardenas and Ricco (Lisa) Cardenas; and her Goddaughter, Marcela Cardenas; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, friends she cherished since elementary school, and her Longhorn class of 1984.

The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, November 1, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, November 2, 2026, departing at 9 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Martin De Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.

A Private Cremation will be held at a later date.
