Juanita Gonzalez, a beloved member of the community, passed away on August 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love. Born on May 9, 1948, Juanita spent over 25 years working diligently at IBC Bank, where she made lasting relationships with colleagues and clients alike, and eventually became President of the Employee Advisory Board. A proud graduate of Martin High School in the class of 1970, she was honored as a Tiger Legend in 2014 for her outstanding contributions to her alma mater.
Juanita's commitment to her family was unmatched. As a devoted wife to her husband, Jose Gonzalez, she selflessly provided for her children and grandchildren, ensuring they had everything they needed to succeed. Her strong work ethic was evident from a young age, starting work at just 7 years old as a migrant worker setting the foundation for her future career success.
Active in the community, Juanita dedicated her time to various organizations, including Lulac Council #7, where she served as president, and later as a district Lulac Director. Her passion for advocacy led her to become the first woman selected to the National Women's Commission, a testament to her leadership and influence.
A devout Catholic, Juanita found solace in her faith and never wavered in her commitment to honoring la Virgen de Guadalupe every December 12th. Her presence in the church community will be deeply missed, as will her warm spirit and generous heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reyes Medina and Celestina Villarreal; siblings, Guadalupe Medina, and Maria Medina; parents-in-law, Virgilio and Ana Lydia Gonzalez; brother-in-law, Virgilio Gonzalez; and sister-in-law Lupe Gonzalez.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Jose R. Gonzalez; sons, Jose Rafael (Julie) Gonzalez, Jr., and Cesar (Jennifer) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Jocelyn Gonzalez, Jose “Joey” R. Gonzalez, III, Isabel Ana Gonzalez, Noah Cesar Gonzalez, Joshua Garcia, and Savannah Segura; siblings, Ramon (Irma) Medina, Domingo (Esther) Medina, Gloria (Alfredo+) Ramirez, and Reyes (Rosalinda +) Medina; sisters-in-law, Alicia Medina, and Thelma (Ruben) Tenorio; brothers-in-law, Rolando (Linda) Gonzalez, Carmelo (Selma) Gonzalez, and Jaime (Cheli) Gonzalez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
