Passed away Monday March 20, 2023 in Laredo, Texas. He was 87 years old.

Sal was born in Falfurrias, Texas in 1936 to Salvador A. Ochoa Sr. and San Juanita Torres Ochoa.  He was married to Anita Pena Ochoa, daughter of Alfonso and Margarita Pena.

Sal attended school in Kingsville before graduating from Kerwin Catholic High School in Galveston, Texas.  He then attended a series of law enforcement schools including Texas A&M’s basic police training and traffic law enforcement school and the Texas Department of Public Safety School and a Federal Bureau of Investigation School.

Sal’s career began when he served with the Kingsville Police Department from June, 1959 to August 1966. During that time, he advanced from the position of patrolman to captain of the detectives.

In August 1966 he left the Kingsville Police force to become a Naval Investigative Service Agent for the department of the Navy at the Kingsville Naval Air Station. In 1968, he accepted an intelligence agent position with the Texas Liquor Control Board.

In 1970, Sal was appointed as Deputy U.S. Marshal of the Southern District of Texas, working in the Laredo office.

In 1985 he was appointed Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal. When he was with the U.S. Marshal’s Service, he was acting Chief in Charge of the Southern District of Texas in 1992 in Houston.

Upon retiring as Supervisory Deputy U. S. Marshal of the Southern District of Texas in 1993, Sal was appointed head of Court Security of the Federal Building in Laredo, Texas.

Sal retired from this position in April 2015

He is proceeded in passing by: his beloved wife Anita Peña Ochoa; his parents, Salvador A. Ochoa, Sr. and San Juanita Torres Ochoa; by his brother Eloy T. Ochoa; and his sister, Corina Ochoa Treviño.

He is survived by his children, Salvador Ochoa III and Annette Margaret Ochoa and sisters, Olga Ochoa Jimenez, Houston, TX and Grace Ochoa Snowberger, San Diego, CA and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins throughout Texas.

The family will have a private service at a later date.
