Rosalinda Guerra

September 14, 1943 — December 2, 2020

On Wednesday, December 02, 2020, Rosalinda Guerra, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 77.

Rosalinda was born in 1943, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, México to Enrique and Rosa Ofelia Ortega. Rosalinda's mother's family was originally from Veracruz but came to live in Nuevo Laredo when her father's employer transferred him. She migrated to the United States and became an American Citizen after her marriage to her husband of 54 years, Margarito E. Guerra, Sr.

Rosalinda was a devout Catholic, and a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She and her husband were leaders in the Movimiento Familiar Cristiano of the Diocese of Matamoros, serving as presidents of the organization for many years. They belonged to the Movimiento for over 30 years, regularly visiting various cities in the Tamaulipas area, giving classes and workshops on marriage relationships. Rosalinda is survived and remembered by the many devoted and life-long friends in the organization who accompanied her and her husband on their spiritual journey.

Rosalinda also served as a leader in the Red Cross (Cruz Roja) of Nuevo Laredo, beginning with her service in the Comité Juvenil at the age of 14, and later serving as president of the Ladies Auxiliary for many years.  Her work oversaw many of the improvements made to the Nuevo Laredo Red Cross Hospital. She and her husband's warehouse near the US-Mexican border, was the hub for the coordination of donations of equipment and medicine. She served as the first president of the Blood Bank of the Red Cross in Nuevo Laredo.

Rosalinda was also a past-president of the Women's City Club, a non-profit organization serving the needs of Laredoans through unique fundraising efforts. She also served as a member of the Board of the Society of Martha Washington in different capacities. Her membership and service in many organizations created life-long friendships, and made her known to many in the community as a kind, affable, and fun-loving person. She is also remembered in this way by her family who cherished her playfulness and positive outlook.

Rosalinda loved to travel and often recalled the many places she visited with her husband, Margarito and their children. She is survived by her children, Alberto Enrique Guerra, Margarito E. Guerra, Jr., Anna Patricia Guerra, Rosalinda (Gerardo) Caballero, Alberto Guerra, and Andres Guerra; in addition to many adored grandchildren.
