Rolando Gaona

Rolando Francisco Gaona, 80, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Rolando graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1957. He then continued his education and attended St. Mary’s University where he earned his degree. He was an Educator for 20 years at Cigarroa HS where he taught Marketing and was a Distributive Education Club of America (DECA) teacher for the length of his career. DECA prepared many of his students for careers in business and entrepreneurial endeavors.

He was an avid lover of the outdoors, his favorite activities included: spending time at the ranch, tending to his horses, and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family and he especially treasured any event involving his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Antonia “Toni” Gaona; daughter-in-law, Raquel Castro Gaona; and his parents, Raul and Isabel Gaona.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Roxanna Aurora Gaona, Lilianna Isabel (Gil) Vela, Rolando Francisco (Cassandra Mata) Gaona, Jr., and Adrianna Elfida (Paul) Torres; and his adored grandchildren, Gabriela Isabel Vela, Paul Dante Torres, Alyssa Raquel Gaona, Arianna Rebecca Torres, and Daniela Teresa Vela. He is also survived by his siblings, Julieta (Angel †) Cuellar, Graciela (Santiago †) Gonzalez, Dr. Raul (Maricela) Gaona, and Hector Javier (Ana Jane †) Gaona; and his brother-in-law, Armengol (Mary) Cantu; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Friday evening, June 14, 2019 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning, June 15, 2019 at Christ the King Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.; everyone attending is asked to please meet at church.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
