Roberto De Leon

February 28, 1970 — January 5, 2026

Laredo, Texas

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roberto “Toy” De Leon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this life on January 5, 2026, at the age of 55. Born on February 28, 1970, Roberto lived a life full of joy, compassion, and dedication to his family and community.

A self-proclaimed master mechanic, Roberto proudly served as a supervisor at Halliburton for 13 years, where his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were recognized and admired by his colleagues. Outside of work, he was a passionate Houston Texans fan, relishing every touchdown and celebration that came with his team’s triumphs. As he also loved BBQ, he frequently delighted loved ones with mouthwatering meals, showcasing not only his culinary skills but also his generous spirit and love for sharing joy around the dinner table. Known for his witty humor and playful spirit, Roberto had the unique ability to light up any room with his radiant smile and infectious laughter. He was a true jokester, using humor to bring joy not only to his family but to friends and acquaintances alike.

Roberto’s strength extended beyond his work and personal interests; he was a fighter and a Whipple warrior, embodying resilience and determination throughout his life. His patience and kindness were unmatched, and he possessed a big heart that extended to everyone he encountered. He bravely and courageously fought pancreatic cancer for 5 years.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Jose De Leon; and his son, Emilio De Leon.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 23 years of marriage, Maribel De Leon; his children, Roberto De Leon Jr., Alicia Rodriguez, Damian De Leon, and Carolina De Leon; his grandson, Gael Estrada; his siblings, Alfredo (Minerva) De Leon, Armando De Leon, Luis De Leon, Rosalba (Phil) Roberson, Jose Antonio (Elsie) De Leon, Silvia (Raul Saenz) De Leon, Ramiro De Leon, and Laura (Oscar) Ramos; and his mother, Consuelo De Leon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
