Ricardo Salinas, Sr.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ricardo Salinas, Sr., who departed this life on June 21, 2026, at the age of 74. Ricardo was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, and coach. He was a dedicated member of his community and a passionate coach whose impact will be felt by many for years to come.

Born on November 9, 1951, Ricardo graduated from Martin High School, where he distinguished himself not only academically but also as a leader among his peers. He furthered his education at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he cultivated his love for sports and mentorship, setting the stage for a lifetime commitment to coaching. Ricardo taught PE and Health at United High School, where he also coached football, cross country, and track. He stayed deeply involved in athletics, substituting for high school coaches and officiating football, volleyball, and basketball games. His passion for guiding young athletes and students and instilling in them values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance was evident in every endeavor he undertook. He touched countless lives and inspired many to be better.

Ricardo's guidance, wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering dedication to his family and community embodied his character. He believed in the power of collective support and actively sought to uplift those around him, making a lasting difference in countless lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isabel and Angelica Salinas, and his brothers and sisters, Eleazar Salinas, Roque Salinas (Estella), and Sophia Gonzalez (Juan).

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 49 years of marriage, Raquel Olga Salinas; his children, Ricardo Salinas, Jr. (Melanie), Keith Salinas, and Kevin Salinas; his grandchildren, Scarlett Rose Salinas, June Ivy Salinas, and Lennon Richard Salinas; his siblings, Greg Salinas (Juanita), Blanca Gonzalez (Javier†), and Rogelio Salinas (Veronica); and his sister-in-law, Olivia Salinas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, June 28, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Prayer Service will commence at 6 p.m. A Chapel Service will be held on Monday morning, June 29, 2026, at 9 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
