Ricardo Marcelo Flores-Santos was called home by Our Lord on June 30, 2026, surrounded by his family at his home at the age of 89. He was a beloved husband, father, businessman, and lifetime golfer who lived a full life with joy, purpose, and a deep sense of fulfillment.
Born on January 16, 1937, in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, Ricardo dedicated his life to family, business, golf, and creating and preserving many lifetime and cherished friendships
Ricardo's educational journey began at the Rosita American School, where he completed the 8th grade in 1952, became a Boy Scout, and reached the rank of Eagle Scout. He continued his studies at St. Joseph's Academy in Laredo, Texas, graduating in 1955. He furthered his education at Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey, and then went on to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in 1963 at St. Mary’s University, where he was an active member of the Kappa Pi Sigma Business Fraternity and worked as an intern at Peat Marwick accounting firm, and also for HEB as a cashier.
In 1967, Ricardo married his wife Cordelia Casso Flores of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, and together they established a loving family of 5 children and 9 grandchildren. He was the founder and manager of Ferreteria Rio Bravo Hardware Store in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, which he later expanded into the lumber business. His first job after graduation was as the first manager of AC Nielsen Co. in Nuevo Laredo. He moved his family to Saltillo in the early seventies to work as the manager of the Carta Blanca Beer Distribution Agency. In the eighties, he relocated to Laredo, Texas, continuing his business career as the manager of Industrias de America, one of the first Industrial Parks of Nuevo Laredo. He later was the manager of the TUNSA transportation company of Nuevo Laredo. A man of many passions, Ricardo was an avid golfer and participated in many tournaments in Mexico and the United States. He was also a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He was deeply involved in his children’s sporting activities, and he took great pride in his contributions as a supporting member of the Texas A&M Parents’ Club and, earlier, in all his children’s schools and sports activities. His life was marked by his skill at humor and storytelling about his memory of all the poems and riddles his grandfather taught him. Ricardo Marcelo Flores Santos leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory and the values he imparted. He will be remembered not only for his many business accomplishments but also for his unwavering commitment to his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon Jose Flores Gonzalez and Herminia Santos-Flores; and his siblings, Ramón Jose Flores, Maya Flores-Lopez, Mauricio Flores, and Francisco Flores.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years of marriage, Cordelia Casso Flores; his children, Ricardo Marcelo Flores-Casso, Gabriela Susana (Jorge) Flores-Gutierrez, Eduardo Alfonso (Fabiola) Flores, Cordy (Alan) Jackson Jr., and Oscar Ignacio Flores; his grandchildren, Marcela Isabel Flores, Vanessa Flores, Camila Pequeño, Jorgito and Susana Gutierrez, Eduardo A. Flores-Cabeza, Sofia Flores-Cabeza, and Alan and Katherine Jackson; his siblings, Jorge Flores, and Alejandra Flores-Garcia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, July 5, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, July 6, 2026, departing at 10:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Monsignor James Harris presiding.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Laredo City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ricardo Marcelo Flores-Casso, Eduardo Alfonso Flores, Oscar Ignacio Flores, Alan Jackson Jr., Jorge Gutierrez, Alan Jackson III, and Eduardo Flores Cabeza.
