Ricardo Alva, beloved father, grandfather, and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on Friday April 10, 2026, at the age of 85. He was born on May 29, 1940, and lived a life defined by love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Ricardo was a man of strong values, quiet strength, and deep compassion. He took great pride in being a provider, a mentor, and a quiet but giant presence for those he loved. Above all, his greatest joy came from his family, whom he cherished wholeheartedly.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosa V. Alva, father, Alfredo Alva, mother, Juanita M. Alva.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Alicia (Oscar+) Nava, brother, Hector (Connie+) Alva, sister-in-law, Alicia (Samuel+) Paez, children: Rosa A. (Richard) Macias, Patricia (Luis) Buentello, Leticia (Sandy+) Garza-Whaley, San Juanita (Ricardo) Venegas, Ricardo (Miriam) Alva, Jr., Jorge (Sandra) Alva, Gerardo (Cristina) Alva and his twenty-eight grandchildren and many more great grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces and nephews, who carry forward his legacy of hard work, integrity, and devotion. Through them, and the many lives he touched, Ricardo’s spirit will continue to live on.
Ricardo will be remembered for his love of sports, his steady presence, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is deeply missed and will never be forgotten.
The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday evening, April 16, 2026 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday morning, April 17, 2026 departing at 9 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.
Pallbearers will be: Reymundo Salinas, Jose Luis Vela, Jr., Christopher Garza, David Alva, Mabel Venegas, Klarissa Alva, Ricardo Venegas, Jr.
