Raymundo Alcorta Lozano

Jan 15, 1946 — Aug 15, 2026

Laredo, Texas

Raymundo Alcorta Lozano, 80, joined our Lord and entered His heavenly kingdom on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at his daughter’s residence, surrounded by the love and care of his family.

Raymundo was born in Rodríguez, Nuevo León, Mexico, on January 15, 1946, to Meliton Alcorta and Ninfa Lozano de Alcorta. He was the eldest of three brothers, alongside Roberto Alcorta and Hector Alcorta. He and his brothers were raised on the family ranch in Rodríguez, where Raymundo learned from an early age the value of hard work and family. He spent his childhood helping on the family farm, caring for animals, hunting, and fishing—experiences that remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.

One evening while visiting Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Raymundo met the love of his life, Juanita Lazaro Moreno, at a local dance hall. They began dating and were married on January 27, 1966. Together, they moved to Laredo, Texas, where they began building their family and raised six children.

Raymundo worked tirelessly in the oil field to provide for his growing family. His career took him to several cities, including Houston and Corpus Christi. During his time working in Houston, the family remained in Laredo, and Raymundo returned home whenever he could, often making the trip home most weekends. When his work later took him to Corpus Christi, the family moved together and spent approximately six years there before eventually returning home to Laredo.

Raymundo retired from the oil field at the age of 65, but retirement did not slow him down. He continued working part-time at a local car dealership and later worked as a concierge passenger driver at a local hotel.

Beyond his work and dedication to his family, Raymundo was a talented and creative man. He had a natural gift for art and enjoyed painting, creating numerous portraits throughout his life, including a beautiful pencil portrait of his beloved wife, Juanita. He also painted several business billboards around town and enjoyed the art of wood carving.

In his later years, some of Raymundo’s happiest moments were spent at his son’s ranch in South Texas. There, he enjoyed being surrounded by his children and grandchildren while helping build a cabin and barn, hunting, grilling, and taking part in the many duties that came with ranch life. These moments created lasting memories that his family will forever treasure.

Raymundo was often a quiet man, but his family never questioned the depth of his love for them. He expressed his love through his hard work, his sacrifices, his presence, and the life he worked so diligently to provide for his family.

Raymundo experienced many difficult losses throughout his life. He lost his mother and, later, his last remaining brother, both of whom he deeply loved. His beloved wife, Juanita, was diagnosed with cancer and passed away on August 1, 2022. Her passing was an especially profound loss for Raymundo, who had shared nearly 57 years of marriage and life with her.

In his later years, Raymundo was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and dementia. As both illnesses progressed, caring for him became increasingly challenging. Eventually, Raymundo moved into the home of his daughter, Rosa, who devoted the last 3 years of her life to lovingly caring for her father. She provided him with unwavering love, patience, dignity, and companionship throughout those years.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Rosa for the extraordinary love and care she gave to her father. They are also profoundly grateful to Rosa’s husband, Roy, for the compassion, support, and kindness he provided to both Rosa and Raymundo during those difficult years. Their dedication allowed Raymundo to remain surrounded by family and cared for in a loving home.

Raymundo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Juanita Lazaro Moreno; his parents, Meliton Alcorta and Ninfa Lozano; and his siblings, Roberto Alcorta and Hector Alcorta.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his six children, Rosa (Roy), Raymundo Jr. (Belinda), Oneida (Javier) of Laredo, Rolando and Danny of Corpus Christi, and David (Craig) of Houston; seven grandchildren, Raymundo III, Sofia, CJ, Viviana, Mia, Dominique, and Valentina; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Although his family will deeply miss their father, they find comfort knowing that he is now at peace and reunited with the loved ones who went before him.

On behalf of the Alcorta family, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has shown love, kindness, prayers, and support to Raymundo throughout his illnesses and to our family during the past several years, especially during this difficult time. Your compassion and presence have meant more than words can express.
