NINFA ALICIA BENAVIDES

Ninfa Alicia Benavides, 83, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 4, 2020. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who despite being widowed at a young age, dedicated her entire life to raising her 6 children and guiding them along their life journey. She is now finally reunited with her soul mate, our beloved father, Leopoldo in the kingdom of heaven. Her faith brought her closer to God in her home parish, Christ the King Catholic Church, where she was an active member and belonged to the Sociedad de Cristo Rey, Honorary Member.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leopoldo Benavides, and her son-in-law, Rito Santos; mother: Antonia Garcia; father and mother-in-law: Antonio and Carlota L. Benavides.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gloria Alicia (Gregorio) Santos, Rosa Maria (Jose) Perez, Imelda Santos, Leopoldo (Gloria) Benavides, Jr., Rafael (Teresita) Benavides, Cristina (Roy) Velasquez; grandchildren, Mary Santos, Kimberly Ann Santos (Cesario Morales Jr.), Amanda Kristine (Danny Hernandez) Perez, Krisselda Arlene Perez, Alyssa Santos, Rito Joshua Santos, Leopoldo Benavides III, Alejandro Benavides, Samantha Benavides, Ruben Reyes, Daniel Raya, Jennifer Ann (Jorge) Hernandez, Jessica (Kevin) Casio, Raquel Benavides, Valerie Velasquez, Victoria Velasquez, Roy Velasquez, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Alicia Sarahi Barrera, Anna Karen Barrera, Christian James Morales, Zoe Benavides, Johnathan Hernandez, Karlene Casio, and Kevin Casio, Jr.; her sister: Amparo (Edward L.) Trevino, as well as other loving relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Saturday morning, December 5, 2020 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez.
The funeral procession will be departing at 10:45 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to Christ the King Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Leopoldo Benavides Jr., Rafael Benavides, Rito Joshua Santos, Gregorio Santos Jr., Jose L. Perez, and Roy Velasquez.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Edward L. Trevino.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to her caregiver of 16 years, Ofelia Alonzo, as well as Gloria and Micaela. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mateo Reyes and his staff for their care and attention to her healthcare needs; Nurse Celinda from Border Skilled Nursing Services and the staff at ALARA Hospice services for their attention to our mother’s needs during these past four months.
