Minerva Vela

Mrs. Minerva Gonzalez Vela, 86, entered into the gates of paradise on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at her home in the presence of her beloved family. She was born in Laredo, Texas on November 25, 1931 to the late Alfredo and Carlota P. Gonzalez and lived in this city her entire life. Her family was her pride and joy. She will be missed.

Minerva is preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Alfredo Gonzalez, Jr., Maria Luisa Pruneda, and Yolanda Gonzalez.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children: Norma Linda (Abelardo) Villarreal Sr., Pamela Y. Vela, Victor H. (Cynthia) Vela Jr.; sister, Virginia Garcia; grandchildren: Linda Y. Villarreal, Abelardo Villarreal, Jr., Vanessa Zimmerman, Leticia Gutierrez, Victor H. Vela, III, Carlos Vela; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Estrada, Robert Vaughn, Jr., Daniel Rodriguez, Samantha Rodriguez, Ricardo Rodriguez, Jesus Rodriguez and is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive condolences on Friday the 16th of November 2018 from 4 until 9 in the evening at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral procession will depart at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday the 17th of November 2018 to San Vicente de Paul Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Rev. Santiago Domingo.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
