AUGUST 9, 1931-APRIL 10, 2019

Minerva Gonzalez, 87, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Minerva Gonzalez was born in Villagran, Tamaulipas on August 9, 1931 the oldest child to Francisco and Matilde Gonzalez. She resided in Laredo, Texas. Minerva was a loving sister, aunt, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Our “Weli” as she liked to be called by her grandchildren was renowned for her sewing, cooking and nursing skills. Everyone always knew they would have plenty of homemade delicious food to eat when they would visit. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her heart and joy. She was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Rafael B. Gonzalez; daughter: Margarita Gonzalez; parents: Francisco and Matilde Gonzalez; siblings: Dora Perales and Maria Guadalupe Benavides.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Salvador (Teodula) Gonzalez, Minerva (Alfredo) Garza; siblings: Bertha (Homero +) Ortiz, Idalia (Noe) Martinez; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, April 14, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday morning, April 15, 2019 departing at 8:40 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mass at 9:00 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Salvador Gonzalez, Juan Francisco Perales, Hugo Martinez, Alfredo Garza, Abran Hernandez, and Isai Tellez.

The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to: CIMA Hospice, ABC Home Health, Champion Care, and Dr. Winder Vasquez.
