Melissa Gonzalez, age 56, of Laredo, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Melissa was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who touched the loves of many.  She devoted her life to her only son, Alex.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fernando Gonzalez and Graciela Alaniz Gonzalez; her maternal grandparents, Mateo Roberto and Maria Guadalupe Alaniz; paternal grandparents, Jose B. and Carmen Gonzalez.

Left to cherish her memory is her only son, Alejandro Fernando Garcia; siblings, Griselda Gonzalez Palmer, David F. (Camillia) Gonzalez, Ruben (Lilya) Gonzalez; nephews, Corey James (Ashley) Palmer, Joseph Brian Gonzalez, Anthony Gonzalez; nieces, Jessika Mercedes Palmer and Graciela “Gracie” Gonzalez; grand-nephew, Seth Thomas Palmer; grand-niece, Lillian Grace Palmer; along with other numerous loving relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Friday evening, September 29, 2023, from 5pm to 9pm at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning, September 30, 2023 departing at 10:40 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Laredo City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: David Fernando Gonzalez, Anthony Gonzalez, Ricardo Gonzalez, R.C. Casarez, Joseph Brian Gonzalez, Guillermo Xavier Gonzalez, Jesus Alaniz, Jr., and Corey James Palmer.
