Maximilian Windisch

Max E. Windisch, born November 26, 1922 went to be with the Lord on March 07, 2011 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.

Through his devotion to pharmacy, Max E. Windisch, R.Ph. provided an invaluable service to many Laredoans. Mr. Windisch received his Bachelor's degrees in Biology and Pharmacy on July 13, 1946 and devoted over 50 years as a pharmacist. Mr. Windisch was well known for his generosity, patience, work ethics and kindness and was loved by several generations of clients and friends. He continually kept up with new treatment modalities and enjoyed sharing information with his colleagues. His experiences provided him with a broad range of knowledge from popular and often effective folk remedies to the newly developed biotech drugs. Mr. Windisch began his career at a pharmacy named Window's. Later, he worked for City Drug for over 15 years. In 1963, he opened his own pharmacy (Max's Pharmacy) on Sta. Ursula and later moved his pharmacy to 820 Market St. In his spare time, Mr. Windisch provided community service as a cellist with the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra. His other hobbies included playing the piano and reading medical literature.

Mr. Windisch was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, son-in-law, and humanitarian.

A special thanks to all the nurses and staff at Doctor's Hospital and Laredo Specialty Hospital for all of their efforts, kindness and compassion that they showed him. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Luis Benavides for his care and dedication to a very beloved man.

He is survived by his loving and caring spouse:-Mrs. Elva Windisch; daughters:-Margaret Zepeda, Johanna (Michael Christensen) Windisch, Susanna Windisch, Marlena (Patrick) Johnson, Juliana (Charles) Pettiford; grandchildren:-Christina Zepeda, Jonathan Zepeda, Juliana KJ Windisch, Dominic Pettiford and Nicole Johnson.
