It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Reyes Hernandez, who departed this life on September 28, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on April 2, 1933, in Eagle Lake, Texas, Maria was a cherished daughter of the Texan soil, raised lovingly on a ranch by her grandparents, deeply influencing the generous spirit and unwavering work ethic that defined her life.
Maria’s journey through life was marked by resilience and dedication. She contributed her efforts tirelessly, working in the fields and thriving in the restaurant industry. Her culinary talents flourished at QuickBite, where her renowned cooking brought joy to many. Maria’s commitment to hard work was matched only by her unwavering kindness. She was a beacon of generosity, known for sharing her love and warmth with all who crossed her path.
As a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, she devoted herself to nurturing her family, and leaving a legacy of familial love that will endure through generations. Maria’s passion for gardening was an extension of her nurturing spirit, where she found peace and joy in the vibrant blooms and bountiful harvests.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Paula Reyes; son, Javier Hernandez; brothers, Anastacio Reyes and Epifanio Reyes.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, David (Sarah) Hernandez, Joe (Marta) Hernandez; grandchildren, Isabella Hernandez, Lydia Hernandez, Linda Hernandez, Javier Hernandez, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Celeste, Valerie, Marcus, Jordan, Hailey, Randy; great-great-grandchildren, David, Blu, and Celia. She is also survived by her caretaker, Luciana Gutierrez; among other loving relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Saturday morning, October 4, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning, October 4, 2025 departing at 10:00 a.m. a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
