Maria Estela Peña, 87, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Sunday, May 4, 2025.

Maria mastered the art of sewing, dedicating over 60 years to her craft as a seamstress. Each stitch was a reflection of her love, as she poured her heart into making clothes for her children and lovingly designing Halloween costumes that sparked joy and imagination in her grandchildren. Her hands, skilled and gentle, not only created garments but also wove together the fabric of family traditions.

Every morning, the aroma of coffee and sweetbread would fill her home, a warm invitation to gather around the table and share moments of connection. Maria found solace in the simple pleasures of life, often delighting in the episodes of “Rosa de Guadalupe” and “Caso Cerrado,” each storyline resonating with her compassionate spirit and reflective nature.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jose Rodolfo Peña; son, Margarito Chavez; parents, Alberto and Concepcion Quiroz.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Juan (Diana) Chavez, Rosa (Alejandro) Herrera, Concepcion Lopez, Santos Peña, and Ricardo (Norma) Peña as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A private cremation will be held at a later date.
