Maria De Lourdes Moctezuma Arce
October 27, 1937- February 13, 2021
Maria De Lourdes Moctezuma Arce, 83, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Saturday, February 13, 2021.
Maria was born and raised in Laredo and attended St. Augustine High School and Laredo Junior College. She married the love of her life, Jose Leonel Arce, in 1958 and together they had 10 children and were married for 62 years. Maria worked for many years at TAMIU where she lastly held the position of Records Clerk before her retirement. Maria was happiest when she was at home spending time with her husband, her children, grand-children and great-grandchildren.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband Jose Leonel Arce, her son, Jorge Alberto Arce; parents, Maria de Lourdes and Antonio Moctezuma, brothers, Victor Manuel Moctezuma, Humberto Luis Moctezuma, and Alfredo Genaro Moctezuma.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jose Leonel Arce, Jr., Maria De Lourdes (Agustin) Luna, Adriana Elena Arce, Anna Clarissa Arce, Margarita Cecilia Arce, Carlos Javier (Roxanne) Schroeder-Arce, Jaime Gerardo (Esmeralda) Arce, Monica Luisa (Joe Martinez) Arce, Roberto Esteban Arce; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Antonio (Maria Dorotea) Moctezuma, Jr., Maria del Carmen Moctezuma (Ignacio) Villarreal, Javier Sergio (Yolanda) Moctezuma, Jose David (Leticia) Moctezuma, Jerry Moctezuma of Austin, Maria Enriqueta (Samuel) Romanos, and numerous family and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Tuesday evening, February 23, 2021 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning, February 24, 2021 departing at 10:40 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to Christ the King Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Jaime G. Arce, Roberto E. Arce, Jose L. Barrera, Jr., Eric Martinez, Joe Martinez, Jose Torres, Jerry Sanchez, Carlos Javier Schroeder- Arce and Honorary Pallbearers will be; Jose Leonel Arce, Jr.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Nurses on Wheels of Laredo, Father Hector Flores, and Dr. Luis M. Benavides.
