MARIA DE LA LUZ DIAZ
January 11, 1926 – August 6, 2021
Maria de la Luz Diaz, 95, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Friday, August 6, 2021.
Maria was born and raised in San Juan, Ixtayopan, Mexico where she met and married her sweetheart Juan Diaz Garces of 61 years. She moved to Nuevo Laredo and then became a resident of Laredo, Texas in September of 1955. She worked as a department head for Amede Frocs, Howard B. Wolf, and C.A. Castro for 40 plus years until she retired.
She loved baking, sewing, crocheting, and doing crafts. Her love for baking led her to become a well-known baker where she baked many wedding and birthday cakes for many. She had a lively spirit. She loved to host parties and always be surrounded her loved ones. She made many long-time friends. She was a momma bear. She always wanted to live her life surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was her joy, life and happiness.
Her memory will always be kept alive by the people she touched and loved. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Diaz Garces; daughter Maria del Socorro Diaz; parents, Aurelio and Petra Vasquez; and her four siblings, Angel Vasquez, Hector (Esperanza) Vasquez, Margarita (Marcelino) Rios, and Aurelia (Hermelindo) Medina.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Oscar (Gloria) Diaz, Juan Samuel (Sylvia) Diaz and Rocio (Roberto) Marroquin; her beloved adopted sister, Guadalupe Maximo Osorio; and sister-in-law Consuelo Vasquez. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Dr. Oscar (Gail) Diaz, Jr., Orlando Xavier (Tran) Diaz, Jessica Yvonne (Enrique) Gonzalez, Sylvia Lizette Diaz, Amanda Nicole (Jake) Buckner, Arturo Apac, Jr., Christopher Robert Marroquin, 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday morning, August 12, 2021 departing at 9:00 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to St. Jude Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
