Maria Cadena

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Maria Cadena, who departed this life on December 2, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on April 13, 1926, Maria lived a rich and vibrant life, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.

Maria was known far and wide for her exceptional cooking. Whether preparing an intimate meal for her family or catering for larger gatherings, including many joyous family weddings, her culinary creations were incomparable and made every occasion feel special. The love and care she infused into each dish will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of enjoying her food. 

Maria is preceded in death by her cherished husband, Victor Cadena; her parents, Bernabe Morales and Maria Torres; her siblings: Eligio Morales, Zeferino Morales, Elias Morales, and Luis Palomo. 

Maria is lovingly remembered by her three devoted children: Antonio Castillo, Rosa (Jesus) Cazares, and Faustina (Juan A.) Cazares. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Rodrigo (Mary) Castillo, Maria D. Castillo, Mark (Cristina Melendez) Castillo, Cindy (Miguel Sanchez) Castillo, Eric B. (Leticia) Cazares, Gretchen A. (Juan R.) Garza, Jessica Cazares, Jasmine Cazares, and Robert Cazares; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished relatives and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

The family will be receiving condolences on Monday evening, December 8, 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday morning, December 9, 2025 departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Rodrigo Castillo, Mark Castillo, Robert Cazares, Eric B. Cazares, Eric E. Cazares, and Juan R. Garza.
