LUCIA R. ARANDA

June 30, 1937- June 8, 2022

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Grandma Lucha was an extraordinary individual, full of faith, who had the kindest soul and the biggest heart. She was a strong-willed woman who loved her family with all her might. As the matriarch, she was always the rock for her family in good times and bad, the glue that kept the ARANDA family together. She was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as great-great-grandchildren, and enjoyed spending many moments with them. She took great pride in having lived to see through several generations.  Her love for God was seen through her actions for others. She welcomed everyone with an open heart and an open door to her home, as it was always an ARANDA tradition on Sundays and holidays at Grandmas house.

“La Mom” enjoyed playing Loteria with her daughters, and most recently enjoyed going to Maquinitas. Thank you to Sandra Rodriguez and Bonnie Castillo for your care for La Mom while at Lucky City. Her love for nature was also evident through her gardening as her green thumb made her plants thrive and bloom like no other. Till her last moments, she loved to sit outside to crochet and do her crossword puzzles, all while listening to her “Gallo” Pedro Infante.

She leaves behind countless memories that will forever live on in the hearts and minds of her beloved family and friends. She will be missed tremendously. She also shared her heart and joy with all animals, her birds, cats, dogs and her beloved Grand Dog, her “Niña” Watts, who never left her side.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Aranda Sr and her daughter Maria Elena Aranda.

She is survived by her daughters and sons; Isabel Aranda-De Hoyos (Mario), Marcela Aranda-Garza, Theresa Aranda, Jose Aranda Jr (Violeta), Millie Aranda-Mercado (Tony), Eduardo Aranda (Sylvia), Lyli Aranda-Cantu (Ruben Jr), and Lucy Aranda-Ballesteros (Juan), granddaughters and grandsons; Jesus Flores IV, Melizza Garcia (Juan), Pablo Garza Jr. (Sofia), Luis Antonio Garza, Marcela Garza, Violetta Aranda, Jose Aranda III, Illeanna Mercado, Tony Mercado Jr., Alex Mercado, Christina Gonzales, Selina Aranda, Luis Castillo III, Amanda Ballesteros, and Juan Jose Ballesteros, great-grandchildren; Albert De Hoyos, Adrian Garcia, Pablo Garza Jr., Jose O.
