Lee Roy J. Caminita

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lee Roy J. Caminita, beloved husband, father, and esteemed veteran, who departed this life on August 30, 2026, at the age of 71.

Born on October 12, 1954, Lee Roy embraced life with unwavering patriotism and dedication, serving his country honorably as a Marine during the Vietnam War from 1972 to 1978. He rose to the rank of Sergeant and earned numerous commendations for his bravery, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Rifle Expert Badge, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leeroy V. Caminita and Patricia Zerudo, and his brother, Peter Hahlos.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 30 years of marriage, Magdalena Caminita; his children, Joseph Vincent Caminita, Mary (Rolando) Tijerina, Veronica (Montrez) Butler, and Connie Mae Bonilla, Nicole Caminita, Lee Caminita, Jr., and Jamie Caminita; his grandchildren, Joaquin Tijerina, Rolando M. Tijerina, Johnathan David Butler, and Kevin Moses Ing; his great-grandson, Roman Aziel Butler; and his brother, Matthew (Lucy) Hahlos, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday evening, September 3, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday morning, September 4, 2026, departing at 10 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Martin De Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Veterans’ Section of the Laredo City Cemetery.

Military Honors will be rendered by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard and the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be: Joseph Vincent Caminita, Rolando David Tijerina, Montrez Butler, Johnathan David Butler, Alexander Madriaga, and Joaquin Guillermo Tijerina.
