Laura Martinez Orfila, age 86, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, in Laredo, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on August 6, 1939, to Jose Martinez Jr. and Alicia Martinez de Botello. Mom, as she was affectionately known, lived a life defined by kindness, strength, and devotion to her family. She found joy in the simple moments, spending time with loved ones, sharing stories, and creating a warm and welcoming home for all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Eugene Orfila, and her brothers, Beto Martinez and Oscar Martinez (Elsa).
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Laura E. O’Connor (Thomas), John E. Orfila Jr., Robert J. Orfila (Hilda), and Dr. James E. Orfila (Cecilia); her sisters, Silvia Perez (Carlos) and Denise Richardon (James); grandchildren, Jacquelyn Treviño (Guillermo), Pamela Holmes (Jacob), Thomas O’Connor III, Katherine Rodriguez (Marcus), John Orfila, James Orfila Jr., Robert Orfila Jr., Mathieu Orfila, Hilda Orfila; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mom will be remembered for her loving spirit, her wisdom, and the lasting impact she had on everyone she met. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
The family will be receiving condolences on Wednesday morning, April 15, 2026, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday morning, April 15, 2026, departing at 10 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Thomas J. O’Connor III, John R. Orfila, James E. Orfila Jr., Robert J. Orfila Jr., Mathieu J. Orfila, Guillermo Treviño III, Jacob Holmes, and Marcus Rodriguez.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to Angela Gutierrez for her loving care, kindness, and dedication in caring for our mother and father.
