Kay Carmona

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Kay Carmona, who departed from this world on September 20, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on November 4, 1932, on a farm in Decatur, Illinois, Kay's journey through life was characterized by an unwavering love for her family, a passion for adventure, and an indomitable spirit. Kay was a devoted family-oriented mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love for her family knew no bounds. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, creating lasting memories that will echo in their hearts forever. Her spirit of warmth and compassion extended far beyond her immediate family, as she nurtured relationships with friends and acquaintances alike. Kay lived across many corners of the globe, yet her roots remained deep in the values of independence and hard work. Her enduring affinity for San Miguel de Allende was a testament to her appreciation for beauty and culture, and she often spoke of it as a place that captured her heart.

As a savvy businesswoman in the real estate industry, she blazed her own trail as a self-employed entrepreneur, earning the respect and admiration of her peers and clients alike. Her unwavering dedication and entrepreneurial spirit inspired many, and she always championed the importance of perseverance and integrity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest E. and Bertha Blakeman; her children, Annette Frost; her grandson, Mike Frost II; and her siblings, Elizabeth Norris, Merry Leigh Stude, and Dale Blakeman.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Deann Sweeper, Suzan Sweeper, and Jaime Carmona (Bertha Nieto); her grandchildren, Krysta (Daniel) Wong, Mark (Kelly) Frost, Ryan (Amanda) Corley, Lauren (Frank) Cavazos, George D. Garza, and J.R. Carmona; and her great-grandchildren, Madison Wallace, Alexandria Cavazos, Lenaha and Noah Wong, Annette and Garrett Frost, and Addison, Miki, and Henry Corley.

The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday morning, September 24, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Chapel Service will commence at 10:30 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Mark Frost, Krysta Wong, Ryan Corley, Daniel Wong, Sofie McClendon, and Paolo McClendon.
