It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Julio G. Perez Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this life on October 18, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on March 1, 1940, Julio was a man of great strength and unwavering faith, who dedicated his life to his family and community.

Julio served honorably in the United States Army as a combat infantryman, where he distinguished himself as an expert marksman over three years of service. His commitment to duty was paralleled only by his devotion to his family. Julio was a trumpet player for Martin High School and in the Air Force while being stationed in England. An enthusiastic fisherman and a strategic chess player, he shared his love for these pastimes with his family, especially nurturing the minds of his two grandsons, whom he guided with wisdom and love.

A gifted musician, Julio played the guitar, harmonica and trumpet, often filling his home with melodies that echoed his warm spirit. His faith as a devout Catholic shone brightly in his life, as he took on the role of educator for those in need, imparting knowledge and love to inmates under the guidance of Deacon "Coche" Jose Rodriguez.

Julio was known for his loving nature and his ability to bring people together. He cherished every moment spent with his family, often found reading the Bible and sharing his insights. His unwavering support and love will forever resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julio and Aurelia Perez; siblings, Santiago Perez, Rosa (Pedro) Torres, Belia (Pablo) Serna; father and mother-in-law, Manuel Olvera Jr. and Julieta Vela Olvera, his brothers and sister-in-law, Jesus Vela, Juan Vela and Genoveva Flores; nephew, Daniel Brown.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 59 years of marriage Alicia O. Perez; his daughter, Melissa Mae Perez; grandsons, Ruben Gamboa and Christopher (Nora Elia) Gamboa; great – granddaughters, Isabella Mae Gamboa and Vianney Danelli Gamboa; his siblings, Rebecca (Miguel) Villarreal, Cayetano (Naomi) Perez; his brothers and sisters in law, Antonio (Petra) Vela, Idalia Raquel (Tom) Brown, Mary Lou (Deacon Ramiro) Garza, Jose A. Vela, Maria Guadalupe (Ernesto †) Camarillo, San Juanita Vela and Gerardo Vela as well as other loving relatives and friends.
