JULIA LIRA MORALES
DECEMBER 8, 1928 – MARCH 28, 2021

Julia Morales, 92, of Davenport, died Sunday, March 28, 2021 at her home.  Julia was born December 8, 1928 in Gonzales, Texas, the daughter of Samuel and Rosa (Gonzalez) Lira. She married Ricardo Morales. He preceded her in death. Julia was a homemaker and also worked at various jobs throughout her life.

Julia enjoyed watching wrestling on television, listening to music, and being the matriarch of her family.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Elpidio “Pete” (Magdalena) Lira Gonzalez and Aleyda Morales, both of Davenport, and Bertha (Juan Manuel) Lopez of Iowa City; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pablo (Claudia) Lira of Laredo, Texas, Catalina Lopez of Dallas, Texas, Esther Cantu of Davenport, and Francisca Arriaga of Davenport.

Funeral services were held in Davenport, Iowa on March 31, 2021 under the direction of Halligan-McCabe-DeVires Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 10 to 12 noon at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez.

Procession will form and depart to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery for the Rite of Committal and Interment to be held at 12:30 p.m.
