Juana María Douglas, 93 years joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas Douglas, and her parents; Eleuterio and María de los Angeles Acosta.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter; María del Pilar Douglas, her sister; Esperanza Castillo, her nieces and nephews; Edward (Alejandra) Lightner, Patsy Melendez, Helen López, Oscar Lightner, M.D., Hortensia (Jay) Castillo Carey, Patty Castillo Acosta, Esperanza (Ricardo) Castillo Acosta, Fabiola Castillo Acosta, Claudia Castillo Acosta, Ana Luisa (Homero) Martínez, María de los Angeles Treviño, Isabel C. (Miguel Ángel) Hinojosa, Martha B. (Leon Xavier) Ortiz, Rodolfo Treviño Acosta and Julia María (Esteban) Lozano, also other loving relatives and friends.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Luis Benavides, Ms. Rosalinda Cuellar, N.P., Star of Life Home Care, Superior Nursing, Dr. Carlos Cigarroa and Staff, Fresenius Kidney Clinic, her caretakers; Alicia “Licha” Capetillo and Delena “Delia” Esolano Rubio for the wonderful care provided to Juanita.
The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, September 13, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, September 14, 2026 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services to San Luis Rey Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alberto Sánchez, Edward Lightner Jr, José Roberto López, Roberto E. López, Oscar López, Enrique Díaz, Roberto Díaz and Miguel Á Hinojosa.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Homero Martínez, Silvestre Cedillo and Alberto Long. (†)
