Josefina Peña

Mrs. Josefina E. Peña, 84, went to sleep in the Lord and has joined the choirs of heaven, on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at a local hospital, having been surrounded by her loving and caring family. Josefina had a tremendous love for life and a steadfast faith. Always the loving mother she was, she fervently prayed for all her family as well as for anyone who needed a prayer. She was an active member of San Vicente de Paul Catholic Church since its founding in the late 1960’s. She belonged to the Altar Society and the 8 a.m. Church Mass Choir. She will be forever remembered by her family and her church friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Antonio and Maria del Refugio Espinoza; husband: Alfredo Peña, Sr.; granddaughter: Isabel Peña; siblings: Antonio Espinoza Jr., Reynaldo Espinoza, Leandro Espinoza, Delia Barbosa, Diamantina Ortiz and Dora Quintana.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children: Alfredo (Elisa) Peña Jr., Nancy (Gene) Granado, Abel (Oralia) Peña, Alberto (Esmeralda) Peña, Antonio (Rachel) Peña, Alfonso (Mary) Peña, Norma (Victor) Vazquez; 24 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; one sister: Delfina Juarez, as well as by numerous, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 4 pm to 9 pm at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez, Laredo, TX 78040 with a Rosary offered in her memory at 7 p.m.

Funeral procession will depart at 8:30 am on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from the funeral chapel to San Vicente de Paul Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
