Josefina Cortez, 73, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Castillo and Concepcion Diaz.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 47 years of marriage, Pedro Cortez; her children, Carina (Victor) Rubio, Celene Uribe, Nalleli (Ricardo) Ferdin, Pedro Hugo (Miriam) Cortez, and Pedro Cortez Jr.; her grandchildren, Alexandra, Edgar, Ricardo Jr., Alexa, Kimberly, Mason, Myles, Cathryn, Kathlyn, Damian, and Cristabel; and her sisters, Martha Reyes and María Alfaro; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, July 26, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, July 27, 2026, departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Luis Rey Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Laredo City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Pedro Hugo Cortez, Víctor Rubio, Ricardo Ferdin, Edgar Omar Ramos-Ferdin, Ricardo Ferdin Jr., José Ángel Alfaro, Eduardo Alfaro, and Mason Cree Uribe.

La Sra. Josefina Cortez entró a la presencia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo el día miércoles 22 de julio del 2026 a la edad de 73 años.

Le precedieron en el fallecimiento sus padres, José Castillo y Concepción Díaz.

Su memoria será recordada por su esposo de 47 años de matrimonio, Pedro Cortez; sus hijos, Carina (Víctor) Rubio, Celene Uribe, Nalleli (Ricardo) Ferdin, Pedro Hugo (Miriam) Cortez y Pedro Cortez Jr.; sus nietos, Alexandra, Edgar, Ricardo Jr., Alexa, Kimberly, Mason, Myles, Cathryn, Kathlyn, Damian y Cristabel; y sus hermanas, Martha Reyes y María Alfaro; además de un gran número de sobrinas, sobrinos, demás familiares y amigos queridos.

Los asistentes al servicio funerario se recibirán el día domingo 26 de julio del 2026 a partir de las 5 de la tarde hasta las 9 de la noche en la Capilla Fúnebre Joe Jackson North, 1410 Jacaman Rd. Un Rosario se rezará a las 7 de la noche.

El Cortejo partirá el día lunes 27 de julio del 2026 a las 8:30 de la mañana de la Capilla Fúnebre Joe Jackson North hacia la Parroquia de San Luis Rey para una Misa de Cuerpo Presente a las 9 de la mañana.

Se despide en la parcela familiar del Cementerio de la Ciudad.

Los portadores serán: Pedro Hugo Cortez, Víctor Rubio, Ricardo Ferdin, Edgar Omar Ramos-Ferdin, Ricardo Ferdin Jr., José Ángel Alfaro, Eduardo Alfaro y Mason Cree Uribe.
