Laredo, Texas

Jose Manuel Gomez (Pepe), 93, entered eternal rest on Friday July 24, 2026.

Mr. Gomez was born on December 8, 1932 in Agualeguas, NL, Mexico to Tomasita Garcia and Filemon Gomez. He married the love of his life and lifelong companion, Juana G. Gomez (Juanita), on January 7, 1956. Shortly after they were married, they left Mexico and established a life together in Chicago, IL, forming a beautiful family with 9 children. His passion in life were his children! The love for his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was unmatched. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He always looked forward to family gatherings and sharing with his loved ones, where showcasing his culinary skills was always key. He also loved spending time in his ranch always waiting and planning for the next hunting season. His commitment to not only his family, but all around him was beyond exceptional. Whenever he could help those around him, he would never hesitate. His sense of humor will also be remembered by all who got to know him.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Juana G. Gomez (Juanita); his parents, Tomasa Garcia and Filemon Gomez; his son, Jose M. Gomez, Jr. (Maria del Carmen); his grandson, John A. Avelar, and his son-in-law, Lee Mynard.
