It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joemma Villarreal, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on September 17, 2025 at the age of 61, to join the eternal embrace of her loved ones. Joemma was born to serve and care for others, dedicating her heart and skills to the nursing profession as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). A proud graduate of Nixon High School, Class of 1983, she devoted more than two decades to the pediatrics department at Doctor's Hospital of Laredo and several other esteemed institutions, culminating in 23 years of cherished service with the Cedar Clinic's home health division. 

Joemma’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her profession; she found immense joy in traveling with her family, creating treasured memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of her loved ones. An avid enthusiast, she also cherished her moments spent playing bingo and the maquinitas, reveling in the camaraderie of friends and family. 

Joemma will be remembered not only for her unwavering dedication to her family and her profession but also for her warmth, laughter, and kindness that touched the lives of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and an indomitable spirit that will continue to inspire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Aida Henderson; and her son, Justin Alonzo Villarreal.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 40 years of marriage, Arturo Villarreal; children, Jessica Elaine (Steven) Upchurch, Jaqueline Ann Villarreal; grandchildren, Natalie Upchurch, Jay-Z Cesar Loza, Pablo Cesar Loza, Jr.; siblings, Kathy, Patsy Lugger, and Michael Henderson. She is also survived by other loving relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the San Ygnacio Pueblo Cemetery.
