Jeannette T. Barrera, 95, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Sunday, January 02, 2022.
Jeannette was born in Mostaganem, Algeria on February 08, 1926. She immigrated to the United States after WWII, where she made her home and raised her children. In her earlier years, she taught French to her students and was even featured in an international cooking article due to her outstanding knowledge and skill of French cuisine. She had the characteristics of a polyglot and spoke three different languages. Later in life, she worked in the clerical department at Mercy Hospital for over 15 devoted years. In her leisure, Jeannette loved to knit and would donate her knitted scarves to the Bethany House and Doctor’s Hospital Cancer Treatment Center. She had a profound love for gardening, entertaining, dancing, and being amongst the company of her family and friends. Her warmth, charm, and brilliant laughter will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Thomas Miguel Jose Targarona and Maria Del Pilar Teruel; and siblings; Joséphine, Angèle, Isabelle, Pilar, Marie, Jacqueline, Thérèse, and Thomas.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved children; Jean-Jacques (Cynthia) Barrera, Georges Louis (Elizabeth) Barrera, Henri Phillipe Barrera, Michèle Christine (Jorge) Arredondo, and Patricia Monica (Alberto) Laurel; grandchildren, Jessica, Dominique, Gabriela, Justin, Shelby, Jacob, Christian, Nataleé, Robert, and Nathaniel; and great-grandchildren, Celina, Gabriel, Jared, Lauren, Joshua, and Harley.
