Javier Ricardo Ibarra

August 29, 1967 — August 8, 2024

Laredo, Texas

Javier Ricardo Ibarra, beloved son, brother, cousin, and friend, passed away at his home in Laredo, Texas. His unexpected passing has left a void that only God knew why he would take such a gentle soul. He will be truly missed and always have the love of his family and friends, who remember him fondly as a free spirit who touched the lives of many who walked with him along his path.

Javier grew up in Laredo and was the youngest son of Rodolfo and Elsa Ibarra. He spent his childhood days attending Blessed Sacrament School and his teenage years at San Augustine High School. Javier graduated in the Class of 1985 at J.W. Nixon High School. He developed a passion for art and created oil paintings of abstracts and portraits. Javier loved the city of Austin and had been a resident for at least 30 years. He enjoyed the music festivals, the art scene, and the cityscape that drew him to experience life in Austin. Javier was a photographer and a consultant for focus groups that researched opinions about products and trends. In the last few years, he worked as a custodian of storage units in Austin before embarking on a trip to Laredo to care for his elderly parents. Javier would always have a listening ear to give advice and had a wonderful sense of humor. We will always love and keep him in our hearts and memories.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roberto (Esperanza) Ibarra; maternal grandparents, Jesus (Margarita Villarreal) Medina; aunts and uncles, Eduardo H. (Maria Luisa †) Ibarra, Roberto L. (Guadalupe) Ibarra, Juan A. Ibarra, Roberto (Esperanza Rosa) Lima, and Jesus Mario (Diana Cardenas †) Medina.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Rodolfo and Elsa Ibarra; brother, Carlos Alberto (Diane Taylor) Ibarra; aunts and uncles, Francisco (Minerva †) Ibarra, Dolores (Victor †) Espinoza, Juventino (Minerva) Ibarra, Margarita R. Ibarra, and Ana Maria Ibarra; along with other loving relatives and friends.
