It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Javier Reyna, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, dedicated registered nurse, and proud U.S. Army veteran, who departed from this life on August 19, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on June 29, 1954, Javier lived a life marked by service, compassion, and unwavering love for those around him.

Javier faithfully served his country in the United States Army, where his commitment to duty and his fellow soldiers became the hallmark of his character. During his years of service, he became a Combat Medic, and he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Following his military service, Javier began his distinguished journey in the field of healthcare at the Sheriff’s Department as a nurse. He went on to serve as an Emergency Room Nurse at Doctors Hospital and Laredo Medical Center, earning accolades as a beloved house supervisor at both institutions. His unwavering dedication to patient care and his colleagues made him a stalwart figure in the medical community. After retirement, he continued to impact lives by working part-time with various home health agencies, one being BrightStar Home Health, and he was affectionately known for his gentle demeanor and profound knowledge.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Eduardo Damaso Reyna and Maria Eliza Solis; his grandson: Adrian Carlos Lopez Jr. and his brothers: Eduardo Reyna, Roberto Reyna, Jose Reyna, Raul Reyna, and Abraham Reyna.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 42 years of marriage: Leticia Reyna, his cherished children: Javier Gabriel (Monica Rios) Reyna, Alexandra Victoria (Adrian Carlos) Lopez, and Arlan C. Reyna; his grandchildren: Javier Andres Reyna, Hector Joaquin Reyna, Emma Victoria Reyna, Jacobo Gerardo Reyna, and Victoria Gabriela Lopez; his sister: Martha Elvira Plata-Quintana, as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Tuesday evening, August 25, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday morning, August 26, 2026, departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Veteran’s Section of the Laredo City Cemetery.

Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard.
