Isaura Tijerina Garcia, 77, was received into the arms of Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Born on September 29, 1948, Isaura lived a life rich in love, devotion, and cherished relationships.
A proud graduate of Nixon High School, Class of 1967, Isaura furthered her education at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, where she encountered the love of her life. She and her late husband celebrated their marriage on August 12, 1972, embarking on a journey filled with shared dreams and unwavering support. Isaura dedicated over 40 years of her life to the noble profession of education, serving as a school counselor at Christen Middle School, Cigarroa High School, and St. Augustine High School in Laredo, Texas, positively impacting countless young lives along the way.
Isaura’s grandchildren were at the center of her universe, and she adored spending time with them, filling their lives with laughter and warmth. Isaura held a deep appreciation for British crime dramas, finding intrigue and enjoyment in their narratives. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence.
In her leisure time, Isaura indulged in shopping and savoring sweet treats, always eager to share these delights with her family. She cherished the company of her siblings, creating a tapestry of love and togetherness that will forever be remembered. Isaura was affectionately spoiled by her late husband, a testament to the love they shared. Isaura T. Garcia will be remembered not only for her contributions as an educator and counselor but also for her unwavering love for her family, her passion for life, and her profound faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cayetano Tijerina Jr. and Dora Perez; her husband, Rafael Garcia Jr., her siblings, Dora (Ken) Hickle and Amalia Garza; and her mother and father-in-law, Norma A. and Rafael Garcia.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rafael Omar (Rosa) Garcia, Ediza Garcia, Norma Laura (Andy Jr.) Vera, Veronica (Charles) Lira; her grandchildren, Flor (John) Estrada, Violette Rose Garcia, Joshua Tyler Vera, Cristiano Andres Vera; her great-grandchildren, Damian Cabello, Jonathan Estrada, Marcus Estrada, Kaia Estrada, Ezequiel Estrada; and her siblings, Tito (Aminta) Tijerina, Estela (Heriberto†) Avalos, Fernando (Tony†) Tijerina, Raquel (Enrique) Valdez, Cayetano (Rosalinda) Tijerina III, Carlos (Juanita) Tijerina, Linda (Alberto) Garcia, Guillermo (Cynthia) Tijerina, Leticia (Robert) Henry, Hector (Patricia) Tijerina, Omar (Rosaura) Tijerina, and Patricia (Rolando) Sanmiguel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, March 15, 2026 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Prayer Service will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, March 16, 2026, where a Chapel Service will commence at 10 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Rafael Omar Garcia, Andy Vera Jr., Joshua Vera, Cristiano Vera, Charles Lira, and Cayetano “Tano” Tijerina III.
