Idolinda S. Smith, 86, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
Idolinda was a proud graduate of St. Agustin High School. She went on to further her education at Texas A & I in Kingsville, Texas, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Sciences. Idolinda dedicated over 40 years of her life to educating young minds as an esteemed art teacher for both the United Independent School District and the Laredo Independent School District, leaving an indelible mark on countless students. On October 4, 1969, she married the love of her life and her college sweetheart, Andrew E. Smith Jr., in a beautiful ceremony at San Agustin Cathedral. Their enduring love story inspired all who knew them and serves as a testament to their devotion to one another.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fructuoso San Miguel and Andrea De Herrera; and her siblings, Fructuoso San Miguel Jr., Elena Gutierrez, Andrea Alaniz, Irene Sepulveda, Sixto San Miguel, and Rogelio San Miguel.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 56 years of marriage, Andrew Ernest Smith Jr.; her children, Michael Andrew (Nidia Monreal) Smith, Karyna Smith (Barry) McLemore; her grandchildren, Andres Borrego, Matthew Smith, Carlos Miguel, Michael Smith, Zachary Smith, Ulises Xavier, Eva Smith, Jaida (Christian Ives) McLemore, Clarian McLemore, Jiana McLemore and Liam McLemore; her great-granddaughter, Emersyn Ives; her sister-in-law, Diana San Miguel; and her brother-in-law, Joe Sepulveda; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Monday evening, August 31, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Prayer Service will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday morning, September 1, 2026, where a Chapel Service will commence at 10 a.m. Procession will be departing at 10:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery for Rite of Committal and Internment.
Pallbearers will be: David San Miguel, Ulises Xavier, Liam McLemore, Matthew Smith, Christian Ives, and Barry McLemore.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Michael Smith, Andrew Ernest Smith, Carlos Miguel, Michael Smith Jr., and Zachary Smith.
