Gregorio "Goyo" Lerma

March 12, 1935 — February 20, 2026

Today we gather to honor and remember Gregorio “Goyo” Lerma, a beloved father and friend, who passed away on February 20, 2026. We take comfort in knowing that rests in God’s loving embrace, upheld by the promise of the Resurrection through Jesus Christ. Gregorio was a man of profound faith, enduring strength, and selfless love, whose compassion and benevolence will never be forgotten.

Born on March 12, 1935, in Laredo, Texas, Gregorio was the son of the late Felix Lerma and Panfila Rendon Lerma. In marrying Margarita Trevino, he found not only a wife but a lifelong partner and dear friend. Together, they built a marriage rooted in love, respect, and deep devotion. His beloved, Margarita, preceded him in death 27 years ago, a loss he carried with faithful endurance. Together, they were blessed with five children, Panfila, Leticia, Margarita, Norma, and Gregorio, Jr., who entered eternal rest three months ago, a loss deeply felt by the family. Gregorio was a caring, loving, and supportive father, who was always there for his children in every stage of their lives.

Gregorio was a hardworking man who took pride in his work. Over the years, he operated heavy equipment and helped construct roads, highways, and foundations of many buildings and centers, leaving a lasting mark on his community. Beyond his work, Gregorio enjoyed spending time with his family, and being outdoors, whether fixing fences, working on cars, or tackling any odd job. He was also active in his community, volunteering at his local church and always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.

A man of faith, he read his Bible daily, demonstrating lifelong devotion to God. In his leisure time, he enjoyed reading his western books and watching his western, military, Mexican, and Biblical films.

Gregorio will be deeply missed for his wisdom, storytelling, laughter, endurance, resilience, love, kindness, and compassion. His life was guided by God, and his love for God and his family shaped every step of his journey. Because of his devoted faith, we take comfort in knowing he now rests in God’s loving arms, welcomed into eternal life and reunited with his parents, his beloved wife, and his son.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Lerma and Panfila Rendon; his wife, Margarita Lerma; and his son, Gregorio Lerma Jr.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Panfila Lerma, Leticia Center (Raul Gomez), Margarita Cochrane (William), and Norma (Ernesto) Mendoza; his grandchildren, Geraldine, Gabriela, Kevin, Gregory, David, Greggy III, Gael, and Dean; his numerous great-grandchildren; and his sister, Carolina Morales; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
