Graciela "Grace" Urdiales

October 10, 1948 — November 8, 2020

Our Lord and Savior welcomed Graciela Melba “Grace” Tijerina Urdiales, undoubtedly the best mom, wife, and grandma ever into eternal Paradise on Sunday, November 8, 2020. Grace, 72, was born in Laredo, Texas on October 10, 1948.

Always proud to be a Tiger, Grace was recognized as a 2016 Martin High School Legend. A trailblazer in many aspects, she was the first lady carrier in Laredo and dedicated 28 years to Rural Route 3 of the United States Postal Service. This loving woman humbly and loyally served Blessed Sacrament Church and the San Carlos Mission as a catechism teacher for many years along with being a Teresita at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. In addition, Grace served as a tireless advocate and voice for the Tanquecitos Community.

She took up a love for baseball after her dad which was an umpire and was a Dallas Cowboys fan until the end. Her heart of gold always welcomed everyone into her warm and loving home where she loaned a shoulder to cry on, a smile to brighten your day, and cooking filled with love. Our hearts are deeply saddened to lose such a beautiful woman who meant so much to so many. She dearly loved the holiday season and the upcoming times will be difficult without her. Thank you to all those who were a part of her wonderful life and for your prayers.

Graciela is preceded in death by her parents; Mario B. Tijerina, Manuela Villarreal Tijerina and brother; Ricardo M. Tijerina.

She is survived by the love of her life, Ricardo Rios Urdiales, whom she married on July 25, 1967 and which stood by her side for 51 years along with her loving children that she fully dedicated her life to - Ricardo Miguel (Yolanda) Urdiales, Melba Darlene (Jesus) Ortiz, and Gerardo Daniel (Avelina) Urdiales;

Wonderful grandchildren Marla Ariel, Valerie Marie (Luis), Gerardo Daniel Jr., Daisie Danielle (Reiver Jr.), Marla Alyssa, Ricardo Miguel Jr., Deeandra Gracielle, Deelilah Avelyn, Jesmel Darlene, Jesus Emmanuel, and Shanaya Grace;

In addition to her 2 brothers, 6 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Our family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude for Meldi and Ponchito who shared so much life with her.
