GRACIELA G. MARTINEZ

March 31, 1935 – November 15, 2023

Graciela G. Martinez, 88, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 surrounded by her loving daughters. Grace was born in Laredo, Texas on March 31, 1935 and graduated from Martin High School in 1954.  A devout Catholic, Grace was a member of St. Patrick Church since 1970 offering many volunteer hours with the Altar Society and St. Vincent de Paul ministry.

Grace met her husband, Lupe through mutual friends and were married in 1959.  They were married for 59 years, until his passing in 2018. Her unwavering character and strong faith will continue to guide her daughters, Marissa (Glen) Jackson, Laura A. Wheat and grandchildren, Avery Wheat and Pierce Linton. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe C. Martinez, Jr.; parents, Rafael and Amelia Garcia; siblings, Amelia (Hector) Garcia, Lucila Contreras, Ralph (Ruby) Garcia, Carlos Garcia and baby sister, Leticia.

Grace is further survived by her siblings, Guillermo (Genoveva) Garcia, Roberto Garcia, and Laura (Jose) Lopez; in-laws, Blanca Puig Garcia, David Contreras and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers, Irma and Margarita for their loving and compassionate care.  The family sincerely appreciates the medical care provide by Mateo Reyes, MD, the staff at South Laredo Family Clinic and Holy Savior Hospice, Ronda DeVally, Salome Sierra, RN and  Norma Cabrera, CNA.

The family will have a private cremation service at a later date.
